17/06/2024

The jury picked the Avant smart toilet and the NU and Tura collections out of 170 previously shortlisted projects and products

Avant, Roca’s innovative toilet, won the Gold Delta Award at the prestigious ADI Awards 2024 ceremony, organised by the Industrial Design Association ADI FAD. Additionally, Roca earned two Bronze Delta Awards for its Tura and NU collections, underscoring its leading role in bathroom design and its unwavering commitment to combining functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability.

The ADI Awards are the most important Spanish awards for industrial and product design. They include the Delta Awards for designers and companies, awarded since 1961; the ADI Medals for students, since 1976; and, since 2015, the ADI Cultural Awards, which recognise those projects that highlight the cultural value of design.

The jury of the Delta Awards presented Avant with the Gold Delta Award in the Indoor Equipment category. This smart toilet, designed by the Roca Design Center, stands out for its cutting-edge and space-saving design, enhanced aesthetics, and easy maintenance, integrating all functionalities in one single piece. This toilet features a patented flushing system based on the Venturi effect, ensuring a powerful and hygienic flush with every use. Avant also features the Roca Rimless® Vortex system, which provides an extra silent and efficient flush, and the antimicrobial glazing Supraglaze®, which guarantees maximum hygiene and cleanliness. Avant’s innovative design allows for easy installation without needing a complete bathroom overhaul. All components are conveniently located outside the wall, ensuring quick and easy installation.

In the same category, the Bronze Delta Award was presented to the colourful faucet collection NU, developed by Roca in collaboration with Studio Inma Bermúdez. NU, which has become Roca’s most awarded collection of all time, features three different handles (Pin, Dome, and Stripes) in six glossy colours inspired by Roca’s Mediterranean DNA: green, blue, yellow, black, white, and chrome. Each model has distinct features: Dome with rounded shapes, Stripes with a textured surface, and Pin with a thin and elongated design in a bird-like form. Details on these faucets include red and blue dots that indicate hot and cold and create a smiling face when the faucet is turned on. Combining ingenuity, sustainability and quality, NU stands out for its bold design and versatility.

Roca’s Tura collection, designed in collaboration with Andreu Carulla, was also won the Bronze Delta Award. Inspired by elements such as the shadows cast by Mediterranean pergolas and shutters, the collection features a simple and elegant design with soft finishes, using wood and recycled materials. It includes basins, bathtubs, toilets, bidets, furniture, and lighting and storage complements, with a focus on functionality and attention to detail. The ceramic pieces are available in gloss and matt white, while the furniture units come in three finishes: off-white, terracotta, and grey. Tura combines advanced technology, such as the Roca Rimless® system and Supraglaze®, with elegant and functional design.

The nearly 170 products shortlisted and awarded at the ADI Awards can be explored at the “ADI Awards 2024. Industrial Design and Design Culture” exhibition at the Disseny Hub Barcelona, which will be open until August 25, 2024.
